Our story started after seeing the depth of the impact that the Covid-19 Pandemic had on families in our community…
The pandemic hasn’t been easy for anyone, but for some families it’s been absolutely devastating. Loved ones have been lost, jobs have been lost, and in the darkest moments, even hope has been lost. As a result, many families throughout our community have had unexpected financial pressures placed on them and are struggling to get by.
The Better Days Foundation was started as a way to support Black Comunities enduring hardships caused by Covid-19. Initially, our goal was to provide food, school supplies and warm clothing for black families per month. However, once we started brainstorming we realized that we could have a greater impact on our community as a whole. We are currently planning fun (and safe) community building fundraisers to bring families and members of our beautiful community together to support our cause of poverty alleviation.
We believe that no family should have to choose between sending their children to school with a healthy lunch and keeping the power on in their home. We also believe that the only way to overcome adversity and push towards better days is to do it together as a community. At the Better Days Foundation, our vision is to empower Black Francophone and Anglophone communities by ensuring equitable access to the resources, opportunities, and support needed to thrive. We are committed to building a future where Black families no longer have to choose between basic needs like food and shelter — a future where every individual can reach their full potential in dignity and prosperity.
At the Better Days Foundation, we are dedicated to alleviating poverty and empowering Black Francophone and Anglophone communities through access to resources, advocacy, and holistic support. We strive to create a welcoming and inclusive environment where families and individuals can overcome challenges, build resilience, and thrive. Our work is grounded in equity and community strength — ensuring that every Black voice is heard, valued, and supported on the path toward a better future.
We are committed to supporting Black communities and low income families with empathy and respect. We believe in showing compassion to individuals, regardless of their circumstances. Our goal is to create a welcoming, inclusive environment where those facing challenges feel seen, supported, and valued.
We believe that diversity is a strength, and we are committed to working hand in hand with Black communities and people from diverse backgrounds and experiences. Together, we strive to address poverty through shared leadership, mutual respect, and community-driven solutions. Our goal is to build meaningful partnerships and create a true sense of belonging in Alberta.
We recognize that historical and systemic injustices have disproportionately impacted Black communities and created barriers for many members of our society. We are committed to using our resources responsibly to address these inequities and to holding ourselves accountable as we work toward a more just, inclusive, and equitable future for all.
We believe that inclusion is essential to building a resilient community capable of overcoming adversity. We are committed to uplifting and empowering Black communities and low income families in Alberta, through their most challenging moments. With determination and compassion, we continue our work to alleviate poverty and provide meaningful support to those in need.
